Week of February 15th

Well, another week in the books. We had an exciting week even though we weren't able to celebrate Valentine's Day as we normally would. This past week we were introduced to our first book club. It was lead by our own reading coach, Mrs. Burgos-Carnes. The kids were able to see what a book club looks like and sounds like. I think everyone enjoyed themselves. We concluded Friday with the kids creating the rules for the book clubs they will be responsible for.... which really goes well along with our district program, AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination - meaning "you are responsible for your success"). We have been working on different strategies in class that reinforces the AVID goals.  So, this week we are working on a new book with their book club members, we will test on chapter 8 (addition and subtraction with 3 digit numbers) begin chapter 9 in  math (multiplying by 10), comparing and contrast, character analysis, and finish our natural disaster projec...

Good afternoon everyone, We have had an awesome week!! This week we worked on subtraction, point of view, text dependent analysis, and natural disasters. The kids have loved relating everything they read and watch to point of view. They are getting it!! Woohoo!! Something you can practice at home with your child besides multiplication facts are adding and subtracting 3-4 digit numbers. The majority of us have it and those of us who don't will have it before the end of next week. Thank you for your support!! Also, a ll of R2 will be celebrating "Read Across America".  We would like for you to read a book and be interviewed about your career. If you work in any of the following fields and are interested, please email me ASAP: medical field, firefighter, zoologist, computer coding, or hospitality field. As a reminder, we will start our book study next week. Please, if possible, try to have your little her here by 8:15. We will begin working in book study groups from 8:15-8:...

Week of February 1

Good afternoon Parents, I am so glad we had another splendid week. We finished our "edible rocks". I think the kids really enjoyed the activities. Thank you all again for sending in the supplies. Hopefully, by now, you have had the chance to read the email from Mr. Williams about Valentine's Day. Unfortunately, in the circumstance w are currently in, it would be too much moving and transferring of items going on to celebrate Valentine's safely. Also, today begins our Virtual Book Fair. The kids should have already shared the flyer from Mrs. Medlock with you. Last week was awesome! We finished the addition section of chapter 8 in math, summarizing in reading, and took our assessment on rocks and minerals. Our writing unit will be ongoing, focusing on text dependent analysis (TDA). This will incorporate reading and writing skills. This week, we will focus on point-of-view, subtraction with regrouping, natural disasters, and our text dependent analysis writing.  _______...

Hey, my favorite people. We just finished another week of learning. I enjoyed my birthday gifts. Thank you to Mrs. Feddeler for handling the celebration of my birthday gift!!! I appreciated the gift cards and the beautiful floral arrangement. In reading, we worked on summarizing, text dependent analysis for writing, chapter 8 (adding and subtracting) for math, and rocks and minerals for science. Thank you to everyone for getting us the materials we needed for our "Edible Rock" activities!! We appreciate it! We have had an awesome time creating our rocks! Unfortunately, I forgot to take pictures. We do have one rock left and I will try my best to remember to take pictures on the last activity. Last but not least, I am asking for 2 things from you: (1) I need you to make sure your little superhero has headphones. We had to log-on to Music class on Friday for Mrs. Sadler and it was total pandemonium. Please, even if you just send $1 to school, I will go to our media center and ...

Hello everyone!! We have made it through another week of e-learning and I'm very proud of the work the kids have put in these past 2 weeks. We will be back face-to-face on Tuesday, January 19th. Let's remind everyone about sanitizing, wearing our masks, and staying clean. We want to make sure no one gets sick and we all remain in class. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday.  We will be out again on Monday, January 25th.  As a reminder, the 2nd nine weeks ends on January 26th. All missing work needs to be submitted by Friday, January 22nd. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to me. Thank you all for being so supportive and understanding during these times. Below, is the agenda for this coming week.

Week of January 11th

Good morning, As of right now, this is our last week of e-learning. Please refer to the agenda posted below for what's happening this week in our class. Hopefully, we are all still warm, healthy, and dry. Remember, next week we are out on Monday, January 18th, in observance of Martin Luther King day.  Please make sure before we come back to class that your little hero has their own set of headphones. We complete many activities that require sound and listening aloud can be distracting to other students (especially if I'm working with small groups).  Also, please make sure that are assignments for the week are completed no later than Sunday night by 10 PM. If they are not completed, I will be putting a 50 in place of the grade. I have students who have work missing from last month still. All of this needs to be caught up by this Friday, January 15th. I have been very lenient with turning in work but at this point we have to be a little more diligent and responsible with g...

Woohoo!! I'm glad to be back. I hope everyone had an awesome time over the break and was able to spend valuable time together with family (at home, of course). Everyone should have all materials for the next 2 weeks with them at home. We will be taking notes as if we were in the class. I am attaching our agenda for the week, the Chapter 7 Family Letter, and any information from our school blog. My plan was to send the thank you cards digitally but I don't have a digital card account. So with that being said, I will send the rest of the thank you cards on the day we return face-to-face. Please remember to subscribe to the blog if you have not done so. ___________________________________________________________________________________ School/Community News Happy New Year / Ending Holiday Break Happy New Year!
